Fall foliage is spectacular! The colors of Autumn are all around, putting us in the mood for turkey and cranberry sauce. But stop right there – one of the biggest mistakes a homeowner can make is to neglect removing those leaves from decks and concrete walks and driveways.
Leaves left on these surfaces can cause unsightly staining caused by tannins escaping from the leaves by rainwater and snow. If these surfaces are recently treated with a sealer, these stains will fade over time. But why not prevent this from happening at the start. Remember to use a broom to avoid scratching and/or marring the surfaces. If the deck or concrete have not been treated in a sometime, now is the time to complete the simple task. As the weather gets colder, road salts and deicing materials can also do damage throughout the season.
